Flagship Pinotage 2014
Pinotage is a South African grape varietal crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut. This resulted in an intense dark fruit with high tannins and anthocyanins.
The vineyards are situated on higher slopes of the Langeberg mountain, which are cooler during the growing season.
Grapes were harvested at 24° balling and cooled overnight. From there grapes were sorted, destemmed and fermented. Fermentation took place over 2 weeks with punch downs done 3 times a day. After primary fermentation, the wine was immediately pressed to minimise extended skin contact due to the high tannin content of Pinotage grapes. Malolactic fermentation was completed in stainless steel tanks.
The wine was matured in 50% first fill French oak barrels, 25% fourth fill barrels and 25% stainless steel tanks.

Residual Sugar: 3.2 g/l
A fruit-driven Pinotage with cherries and sweet tobacco on the nose followed by mocha and soft oaky notes on the palate. This wine is well balanced and smooth with the potential to age for 5 – 7 years.
