Our wine farm is located in one of the world’s most beautiful areas known as the BAR (Bonnievale, Ashton, Robertson) Valley, about two hours outside of Cape Town. Sarah’s Creek (part of the greater farm ‘Stockwell’) is a farm, nestled on the slopes of the Langeberg Mountain Range.
The farm has been in the Malherbe Family since 1888. The current owner, Dirk C. Malherbe, is the 12th generation offspring of the original Huguenot, Gideon Francois Malherbe, who arrived in South Africa from France in 1688. He settled in the well known Franschhoek Valley near Stellenbosch, on the farm ‘Normandy’ (named after the region of his origin in France).
We’ve been extending our vineyards since 2002 and will be upgrading the old, original cellar on the farm. Here our resident winemaker, Marga Malherbe, will use a combination of traditional practices and modern methods to turn our grapes into spectacular, easy drinking, everyday wines.
